Following two days of sickness and sleeping for most of yesterday I set the alarm for 0530. I figured that 14-16 hours of sleep is enough for anyone so with that in mind I was out the door at 0545.
Any photographer will tell you that the best times to take outdoor photos are first light and sunset, sometimes know as the golden hour as the light is softer and kinder.
Market time
Also in my mind is that at 6 in the morning the street would be empty and I would be free to take the shots I wanted. BIG MISTAKE. Crossing the bridge into town there was a nice red sunrise but entering the town it might just have been mid day. The market was heaving with traders and customers. There were groups doing Thai chi and there was even a couple having wedding photos taken.
6 am Wedding !
I walked the streets for an hour or so then returned to find Deb still in bed.
One thing I have been dreading is the 12 and a half hour sleeper bus ride from Hoi An down to Nah Trang. The reviews on trip adviser are not good so I went back to a travel kiosk and booked us on a train tomorrow morning for the 535 km journey south.
This will give us an extra night in a hotel in Nah Trang instead of the intended sleep through the night bus journey.
We spent an hour or so in the hotel pool. The temperatures are in the mid to late 30s. Walking the four steps to the pool from our sun lounger almost gave me 3rd degree burns to my feet.
We sat soaking up the atmosphere with a small group of Russians and it was hard to imagine we are in Vietnam. It could just as easily be the Caribbean. Palm trees, brilliant sunshine and a pool at our disposal with a gentle breeze from the river behind us.
Deb enjoys the pool
We again headed for The Bees Knees Restaurant and following three bottles of Saigon lager Deb was giggling like a schoolgirl and within minutes if getting back to the hotel she in out cold.So Nah Trang awaits us tomorrow. It's a bit like the Bendidorm of South East Asia. Beaches, sunshine, parties, karaoke bars and plenty to drink.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
