I never got the chance to take a lot of photos yesterday as it was a day lost to travel. After a last breakfast at The Pho Boi riverside resort in Hoi An we were picked up promptly by our taxi driver who transported us the 18 miles to Da Nang rail station. With the train running late we got talking to an American couple from Pennsylvania and before that Seattle. They were traveling non stop without any long term plan. They had sold their home in the States and set out to see the world.
He was a videographer and by chance has the same camera as I have and we chatted lens, equipment and the problems with travel photography.
Well the train journey was nothing to write home about. Almost 10 hours. During a night journey it's not so bad, you just sleep. But in the day if you sleep, which I did, you find you can't sleep at night. Thus I find myself wide awake at 6am in Nha Trang writing this blog.
Nha Trang is described in one of our books as a fusion of Nice meets Ibiza. A four mile golden beach line with Palm Trees and, from what we have seen already filled with Russians.
It's so hot here. We have the fan on and the air con. I will get some photos on later today but For now I have posted a map of our locations and journey so far. From Hanoi to Halong, Sapa, Hue, Hoi An and now Nha Trang. With Dalat and Saigon still to visit. Plus a two night stop off in Mui Ne.
Without wishing to rush the holiday I think we are both looking forward to Saigon. The cities are pure crazy. The holiday tourist resorts could be anywhere on earth.
We also have a boat trip planned down the Mekong Delta from Saigon. This is the real Vietnam and part of the reason I so wanted this Dream journey.
Catch you later.
Our hotel. Not far from the beach
Checking in.
