What a mission

28 hours after leaving home we arrived at the Landmark Hotel in the old Quarter of Hanoi after 3 flights and endless hanging about in Thailand. . The Emerites flights it has to be said were superb. Lovely private video screen with games, films and music for everyone. Free drinks and plenty of food made the flights pass real quick.
The hotel room is quite small but we don't intent to sit around relaxing. The place looks totally crazy. Cars, motor bikes and push bikes going in every direction. We saw one bike on the main very busy dual carriageway from the airport with two young kids on the back both on their mobile phones.

Entering the old quarter crowds are sitting on tiny plastic stools street side eating and drinking. Can't wait to see the place when the sun cones up in the morning.

Day 1. Hanoi, Sunday 2nd March 2014

Deb with our cycle taxi driver

We set off after breakfast on a walk around the old quarter of Hanoi. There seems to be a competition in town to see who could get the biggest object or number of people on a motorbike. Its crazy. Motorbikes everywhere with 3, 4 and 5 people on them.
We had an hour with some poor Vietnamese cycle taxi driver who struggled to push up around town.
Then we booked our first trip tomorrow to Ha-long Bay. We will be picked up at 8 in the morning and spending a day and night there on a floating Hotel. Can't wait

Debs asleep, still got jet lag I think. So trying to update this blog with a few pictures before we head out again to see the sights. More later.
