It had to Happen. Hanoi Road Crash

Monday 10th March 2014

Another day and another town. This one more familiar as we are back in Hanoi for one night following a 9 hour overnight train journey from Lao Cai. We arrived at 0530 in the morning and booked into the nearby Mango Hotel. Its a bit basic but we cant complain for about £15.00 including breakfast and free WiFi.
With Deb now almost 100% fit we walked up to Hoan Kiem lake and had a good old traditional Vietnamese meal in KFC. Yea sorry but we noticed the sign and wrestled  each other to get in the door first.

God bless America

Not long after I managed to capture a few shots of another pair of newly weds by the lake.
Happy bride

That's not a proper camera is it mate ?

Happy couple

A bit further up the road the inevitable happened. With a loud crunch, about 50 yards from us a motorbike was in collision with a car. Just as I had given Deb the camera and like a true pro she captured the moment of impact. I had to fight her to grab the camera back to take the rest of the photos.

The ambulance arrived about 20 minutes later. It looked about 50 years old and had previously been used to transport cattle. The para medics ! Started to build a stretcher out of pieces of wood, honestly!

Finally after 9 nights away from home you can imagine my flowing locks were starting to get in my eyes so
I had a trim at an open air barber. Good value for 50000 Dong (£1.42
Anyfink fo weekend ser ?

Well its been a waste of 2 days really because we seem to be moving or waiting to move and my daughter Vicki has pointed out that I might be a bit old for this lifestyle so, after a near 14 hour  335 mile night train south to Hue, where we spend two nights, we will be settling in Hoi-an for about 5 days to recover.
This place is supposed to be beautiful with golden beaches and temperatures in the late 20s.
Bring it on .
