Hoi An- Simply Stunning

Friday 14th March 2014

We took the camel bus from Hue early this morning and despite the discomfort of the seats being about 6 inches behind each other the time passed quite quickly. On the way we drove through Da Nang and passed over the awesome Dragon Bridge. What a sight
The magnificent dragon Bridge. Da Nang

Camel Bus. Gave me the hump.

A five minute transfer took us to our best hotel so far. The Pho Hoi riverside resort. With a quick change we crossed the small bridge and walked along the road between the river and the market. Although there is the familiar pushy street vendors we have become adept with dealing with them now.
We stopped at a bar when I saw the sign for "fresh beer" that we had been warned to look out for in Hoi an and I can confirm it was worth the wait. The price for four halfs of this very strong lager that had an immediate  effect was 20,000 Dong. Thats about 64 pence or 32 pence a pint. LOVELY. We are going back for more as soon as Deb is out the bath.
Fresh Beer. 16 pence for half pint.

We spotted some more marriages and it makes me realize how lucky I am to have a job of capturing the special day for "my brides". The colour, the textures of the buildings and the light, as well as the beautiful costumes and dresses of the brides make me nostalgic for my next wedding.

Just before we crossed back over the river I was offered to hasve a chin like a babies bottom. How could I resist for 5000 dong. (£1.42) Its a good job I had my red England shirt on.

Evening of 14th March 2014. Hoi An

We strolled along the river bank this evening drinking more of the local "fresh beer. We crossed the Japanese bridge where thousands of candles were being floated in little cardboard boats.
The town was buzzing with tourists with much music being played. A very romantic evening.

What ? No more fresh beer?

  2. It's amazing. They brew the beer and sell on the same day. But once it runs out that's it.
It's a beautiful village and the market is massive by the river bank with all sorts of odd products on sale.
We have a trip booked to My Son tomorrow. 7.30 pick up by bus then we come back on a boat. Should be good. X
